Rid yourself of Low Quality Tracks

Smart Playlists
redline

Hate all those old 128 and lower kilobit files that seem to plague your library?

I use this playlist to weed out lower quality tracks. Then, I replaced them with copies encoded at higher bit rates.

I screen out Audio Books and Spoken tracks because most are encoded at lower Bit Rates:

Match - All - of the following conditions:
Bit Rate - is less than - 160 - kbps
Genre - does not contain - Audio Book
Genre - does not contain - Spoken

or

If you have trouble with sub-par Sample Rates, swap the Bit Rate parameter with:

Sample Rate - is less than - 44100 - Hz

Note: 44100Hz is CD quality sampling.

To preserve your Playcount, see iTunes tip: Save Your Song Info

Or do the same sort of strategy to locate any MP3 tracks that are MORE THAN 160 or 192 kpbs and use that generated list to convert those songs to the more space-efficient ACC format!
