mulitple artists in browse?

When I download the changes to my iPod I will get the same artist listed up to 3 times even with the same spelling is there a way to delete these duplicates?

Nick- This is due to mispellings and extra whitespace after the names. The easiest way to fix is to turn on browse in iTunes, choose all the artists from the Artist listing, select all, get info and set to the correct name.

This will rewrite all the songs' artist tags and correct the problem.
