If you're like me, you probably have a huge number of 3 star songs, a fair amount of 4 star songs, and relatively few 5 star songs. Creating a simple playlist with "My Rating is greater than 2 stars" gives you a playlist with a huge number of 3 star songs, some 4 star songs, and only a few 5 star songs. I would rather have much more 4 and 5 star songs. Here's one way to get the right mix:
1. Create the following three auxiliary playlists:
A.
"~ 3 Star Unplayed" with
"My Rating is 3 stars"
"Limit to 100 songs selected by least recently played"
B.
"~ 4 Star Unplayed" with
"My Rating is 4 stars"
"Limit to 200 songs selected by least recently played"
C.
"~ 5 Star Unplayed" with
"My Rating is 5 stars"
"Limit to 100 songs selected by least recently played"
2. Create your master playlist "The Right Mix" with
"Match ANY of the following conditions:"
"Playlist is ~ 3 Star Unplayed"
"Playlist is ~ 4 Star Unplayed"
"Playlist is ~ 5 Star Unplayed"
"Limit to X hours selected by random"
This gives a nice average rating of 4 star songs for me with the roughly the same number of 3 star and 5 star songs and double the number of 4 star songs. You can adjust the limit in the auxiliary lists to get the right mix for you.
