I like to only play holiday music during the month of December, so I've traditionally removed these files from my library each year and archived the music.
Last year, I kept a copy of my iTunes Library file (with only holiday music remaining) so that I could retain my playcounts and ratings. Now that it is time to reintroduce these files into my main library, I'm wondering what the best way to do so would be.
I created a smart playlist titled "Recently Added":
Date added - is in the last - 31 days
Limit to - 50 songs
This way, I can quickly listen to brand new songs I just bought and/or downloaded. The playlist is perfect in iTunes.
On the iPod however, in addition to songs just added, I also get songs which I have not recently added, but just made a change to- such as designating a different playlist for the song.
Anyone know why this is happening and how I can make it stop?
I want to find a way to set up the iPod so that any way I listen to it, whether choosing by artist, genre, etc., is randomized--except albums. I like to listen to albums with the correct song order.
Is it possible this will work the way I intend? I want to randomly play songs not recently played as well as include highly rated songs I like to hear (those will have a high play count) and not get a lot of repeats (i.e., mid-rated) which seem to occur when I use the Apple iTunes shuffle.
Last Played - is not in the last - 5 days
Play Count - is less than - 5
My rating - is in the range - 4 to 5
Does the scripting for Smart Playlists support an "or" condition or is it solely based on "and" conditions?
Anyone having this problem? I make a Smart Playlist using "If comment contains..." as the only defining criteria, and it works perfectly in iTunes. However, when I sync it to my iPod (30GB), the name of the playlist shows, but the list is "empty" -- a blank iPod screen with no songs at all. It seems ONLY to happen to Playlists based on text in the Comments field.
