basic question AND query, i think?

Questions
redline

tell me, how do i pick a playlist that uses multi genres do i have to say AND or something? do i join up words or seperate them? i'm confused. Like if i have one genre called 'rock' and another one called 'funk' can i get a SPL to choose songs from those 2 genres? Please don't roll your eyes!
Also how about so that the list renews itself each time it cycles thru? sorry for the dumbness. Am new to this. Not music though, on that i'm damn clever.
Cheers for any help.

 Genre Cleanup & Year Snag?

Questions
redline

OK first things first...

Genre: As I go through and clean up my genres to be more standard I am not seeing my genre dropdown tidy up as well... Is there a quick easy way to accomplish this?

Year: Can you not edit the year of a track in the playlist / library view and actually have to "get info" and do it there? Say it ain't so!

PS (sit down) I'm on windows

Thanks

S.

 Accidentally deleted "default" Smart Playlists

Questions
redline

I'm usingiTunes 4.6 for Windows and I accidentally deleted 2 of the smart playlists that were already in the list when I installed the program. I tried to uninstall and reinstall to get them back, but that didn't work.

Is there some way to get them back? recreate them? get the smart playlist file from someone?

Thanks!

Michael

 Songs not in playlist?

Questions
redline

Hi

I like to put all my songs in playlists (mostly: Artist-Album). Is there any quick way (ihave 600 playlists) to find songs that aren't in a playlist?

Also, is their a way without searching through each song to find songs without any artwork?

Thanks.

 Random Play by Album?

Questions
redline

I'm absolutely new to the iPod. I have a question that seems to be real basic, but I'm not finding any info on it, in the manual, in the book I got, or here.

I'd like to play music randomly, but I want to hear it an album at a time. I assume I should be using a playlist for this, but I don't see any way to create a playlist that randomly selects a particular album, then plays all the songs from that album, in order, before randomly selecting another album.

Is there a way to make this happen, or am I out of luck? (Is it possible to do it with threading? Is it possible to do it with threading without going through and threading each individual song on an album to the song before it?)

And if there's already a complete explanation available somewhere, please just point me in the right direction.

Thanks much!
David

 or?

Questions
redline

Is there anyway I can create an "or" function in a Smart Playlist?

I have a Smart Playlist where the "artist contains Prince" and the "artist does not contain Fresh Prince"

What I want to add is a line which states "or the composer contains Prince"

Any ideas if I can get around this?

 Too many artists...!!

Questions
redline

Hi guys - great site - I've been lurking for a while but this is the first post.

I have a lot of compilations in iTunes, and sync'd with my iPod. However, I thought that as long as I check the 'Part of compilation' checkbox when burning the CD that it would store it by Album name, and not by artist. It's getting to the stage that I can't really search by artist as I get an artist for every song on all compilations, and for that kind of CD I just want to be able to search by album. Am I missing something, or is this just the way it goes..?

Cheers,

Baloo

Less Songs on iPod vs. Library?

Questions
redline

I have 8966 songs in my Library, thus far. I have rated about 2000 1 Star and I don't want those to synch to my iPod, allowing me more higher or non-rated songs to fit.

I've looked in Doug's AppleScripts to no avail but I may have not recognized what I want.

I'm thinking there must be a way to have all 1 Star rated (or other criteria wanted) tunes be ignored but can't figure out a way to accomplish this.

Is it possible to create a second Library with just the 1 Star songs in that one?
