I prefer to set my iPod up and not change the settings.
I don't like the way the shuffle mode shuffles absolutely everything so I don't use it. I like my albums tracks to play sequentially and my SPLs to play randomly.
To keep my SPLs changing, I limit them to 25 songs selected by random and the last rule in my "match all" list is "last played is not in the last 0 days". That means whenever I play the SPL, it automatically takes away the songs as they are played.
Please reply and let me know if anyone has a different way to do the same thing.
Give every track a rating of three and stick it on your ipod. If, while wandering around town, a track sticks out as good, that will prompt you to increase the rating. If a track sticks out as bad, then you'll notice it and lower the rating. Any song that you don't really notice as bad or great is most likely middle of the road...and stays a three.
hmm...it sounded a bit more clever before i wrote it down. anyway...it works for me.
Apple has posted new section their battery technology.
"Paying attention to just a few common sense pointers will pay off with a longer battery lifespan and battery life for your iPod. The most important thing is to keep your iPod out of the sun or a hot car (even the glove box). Heat will degrade your battery’s performance the most."
There's a great page on the iPod and another on laptop power useage.
The highlights:
• Update to the Latest Software
• Use iPod Regularly
• Hold and Pause
• Minimize Backlight Time
• Turn off Equalizer
• Use Compressed Songs
