I made a mix CD for a friend from an iTunes playlist (not a Smart Playlist), but when my iPod syncs (it updates automatically) the songs in that playlist appear in reversed order on the iPod! I've tried reversing the order in iTunes, but it doesn't fix the problem, they're still reversed on the iPod. The only solution I've found is to transfer all the songs to a new playlist and re-sync. It works, but only the first time - after that they're all reversed again. It's only this one playlist.
Adjusting when iPod/iTunes considers a song "played"?
This is probably imposible, but...
Is there any way to have the iPod and iTunes consider a song "played" after hearing less than the full song?
I have a smart playlist which is made up of songs I haven't played in the past 60 days. However, when I skip through a song it's not marked as played and not purged from the list on sync. Because of this, my playlist becomes front-loaded with songs I find myself skipping through over and over.
Ideally, I could set a parameter to mark a song as played after xx seconds of play.
This is a great site. Lots of great info being swapped. Please bear with me as this may seem a bit elementary, compared to the pros here. I have about 20 GB of music ripped to my harddrive. I usually manually synch my iPod because I do not want all of my music to get transferred, but now have started to get more interested in the ideas of smart playlists to filter my music. Of course that will require some fun time rating and catagorizing what I have.
Here goes: Is it more effecient to auto sync everything? Seems that the iPod and iTunes can only communicate fully (keep track of playcounts, ratings)if this is done. Then keep track of things through the update of playlists? I have noticed that if I try to create playlists and do not synch the correct way, all of the other music I might have had on the iPod is removed. That gets very tiresome, but I know it is novice operator error.
Is there a way to place a limit so that a particular artist or album is played once? I want to make a playlist that takes only one random track off of each album.
Match Any
Playcount less than 3
Rating between 4 & 5
Genre not iTrip
Genre not Xmas
I can't get the iTrip stations out of the list since they've not played more than 3 times. I want them out as they are annoying but I can't figure how to force the playcout to 3 or above and there's not either/or ability with the match option.
I've heard about applescripts but have no idea about how to write one nor apply the script should one exist.
