 Downsampling songs that have a length bigger than 8 MB

Smart Playlists

I've chosen to use mainly a bit rate of 192 kb's per second in my ditunes database. All files that I copy from CD to my itunes DB get ripped and converted to a sample rate of 192 kbit/s.

But I still had some files from my pre-iTunes times, that were encoded in the strangest possible sample rates you can imagine.

Also there are/have been files that are bigger than 8MB. And as we all know this isn't that good for you battery lifetime (ipod).

So, I created touti completti 5 playlists to apply the right conversions.

downgradeTo192 HB
(BitRate > 256)

downgradeTo192 CB
((230 < BitRate < 256) && (8 < size < 10))

downgradeTo192 LB
((200 < BitRate < 230) && (8 < size < 9))

downgradeTo160
((180 < BitRate < 192) && (8 < size < 10))

downgradeTo128
((140 < BitRate < 160) && (8 < size < 10))

Okay, so if you add a new cd to your library all files that fulfill the rules aove will pop up in your playlists.

mark them, convert them and delete the originals. The quality loss will be marginal :-)

PS: The file size limitations aren't totally arbitrary. They have someting to do with the expected filesize of the downsampled songs.
