iPod Shuffle: 1/2 tunes permanent, 1/2 random?

Hi. What I wish to achieve is a way for my iPod Shuffle to have 50 or so songs that stay on it permanently, while the rest of the Shuffle gets filled with different, random tunes whenever I autofill. Can anyone figure out how to do this? I can't figure a way to pull it off since the Shuffle can handle only one playlist. Thanks!

Probably not possible without some manual updating. Maybe dragging the contents of a smart playlist into your iPod shuffle list?

Sure, just make two seperate playlists limited to the quantities you want (50 songs for the static one, and the remaining amount of megabytes for a spl) and create a master playlist which will select any of the following conditions, playlist is [static playlist] and playlist is [smart playlist].
If any of this didn't make sense email me at and I'd be glad to elaborate.
