iPod Shuffle recently played list

Just got my brand new iPod shuffle - cool and seems to work great. However it seems that while the Play Count is updating, the Last Played is not updating. Anyone else having this problem? Obviously this is a huge issue for SmartPlaylists. Thanks

It seems that the shuffle does not have a clock. The last played is not recorded because of this fact.
