Finding songs in the library not yet in a playlist?

I'm sure there are songs in my library which are not in any of my playlists, and therefore liable not to be played. Has anyone come up with a cunning way of setting up a smart playlist where:

playlist = blank/null?

Although you cannot accomplish this with a built-in SmartPlaylist, you have great timing.... Our friend Doug from Doug's AppleScripts just posted your answer.

I use a lot of these Smart Playlists, like "Blank Album", "Blank Artist", "Blank Title" to make sure there are no tags accidentally left empty.

On a PC you can make a playlist that is 'playlist is not', then list all of your playlists. Of course if you have a lot of playlists this could be a bit impractical.
