Hi guys - great site - I've been lurking for a while but this is the first post.

I have a lot of compilations in iTunes, and sync'd with my iPod. However, I thought that as long as I check the 'Part of compilation' checkbox when burning the CD that it would store it by Album name, and not by artist. It's getting to the stage that I can't really search by artist as I get an artist for every song on all compilations, and for that kind of CD I just want to be able to search by album. Am I missing something, or is this just the way it goes..?

Cheers,

Baloo

I'm confused by your comments/question. When you check the compilation checkbox the songs are stored by album on the hard drive. However, you can still view songs by artist in iTunes. You can still view them by album, too. What is it that you're trying to do that you can't do?

Look under Preferences --> General and see if "Group compilations when browsing" is checked, and change it and see if you like that method better.

hondo77 - I realise I wasn't particularly specific in the original post! I was aware of the option that bombcar mentioned and in iTunes it's all fine - what I meant was is there a way of replicating that method on the iPod itself..?

bombcar - thanks for the response by the way.

Cheers

You can use the browse menu on the iPod to browse by Album.
