 Removal of Unused Genres?

Questions

Anyone know of a way to remove unused genres from the default pull down list?

For instance: Religious and Children's Music

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no. I'd love for someone to contradict me, however.

Someone had mentioned editing an xml file in another posting.

Not sure if that was a .plist in the ~/Library/Preferences/ or an internal to the iTunes.app package.

I looked in the xml file and it wasn't there...

Are you certain the genres are unused? In my experience, genres automatically disappear from the pop-up menu if they're truely not assigned to any songs.

There is a base set supplied by Apple.

They don't disappear from the pop-up. They do, however, disappear in the browse view, and don't show up as a genre on the iPod.

Says the person that has a genre reading 'ripped by macdaddy's daughter' in his pop up genre list STILL
