 iTunes 6.0.5 is Out

Announcements

Apple released iTunes 6.0.5 today, adding the ability to sync the Nike + iPod workout data with nikeplus.com. Presumably this is only for the nano.

Apparently this release quietly patches an AAC parsing flaw where iTunes could quit or potentially execute arbitrary code. The issue is addressed by improving the validation checks used when loading AAC files.

Also of note: "After purchasing music from the iTunes Music Store with iTunes 6 or later, you also need to upgrade your other computers that purchase music from the iTunes Music Store to the latest version of iTunes."

There is also a new ipod updater - 2006-06-28. I upgraded to iPod nano Software 1.2 and some of my smart playlists went a bit funny. I have a smartplaylist called "Delete" for songs rated 1 star (guess what i do with them then?)This worked ok with the previous software (1.1.1), i could go into the playlist on the ipod and have a look at them or maybe give some songs a second chance. But now, with the new software, the smartplaylist doesn't even show on my ipod unless i rate it 1 star, then connect to ipod to itunes and leave it undeleted - wierd huh? i am now in the process of downgrading 1.1.1 to see if this fixes the problem or if my nano's knackered - will post again
